Adoption Success Stories
The Newport Animal Hospital and its associated clinics, the Jamestown Animal Clinic and the Newport Animal Clinic, help find forever homes for animals in need from all across the United States and beyond!
Locally, we work with the Potter League for Animals in Middletown, Rhode Island. We take in cats and kittens looking for a home all throughout the year, housing them in our Adoption Center at our Hospital, or out at our Newport clinic. Since partnering with the Potter League, Newport Animal Hospital has helped find homes for over 50 cats!

Not so locally, we have a long-standing relationship with the Anguillan Animal Rescue Foundation, (AARF). Anguilla is a tiny island located in the Northern Caribbean, –just 16 miles long and 3 miles wide. The population is only about 12,000, and the ratio of pets to owners is very high.
Dr. Civic and his wife, Sarah, visit Anguilla every other year or so, and while there, Dr. Civic always pays a visit to the shelter. During a visit in 2007, Dr. Civic was introduced to Ginger– an emaciated and weak, but completely devoted, mom trying to care for a litter of six puppies. The AARF volunteers were worried; the shelter was already filled with puppies. How would they find homes for these six, too? Dr. Civic had the answer– he decided to bring them back to the US! Since that first group of six, Dr. Civic and his wife have brought a litter back to Rhode Island with every trip!

We also work with the Valley Humane League in Alamosa, Colorado. A colleague and longtime friend of Dr. Civic, Dr. Warren Deal, works closely with the Valley Humane League. While talking to Dr. Civic one day, Dr. Deal mentioned all the dedicated and caring volunteers at the shelter, and, despite their never-ending efforts, how many pets they still had in need. In Colorado, there are just more pets looking for a home than there are families that can take them! Listening to Dr. Deal, Dr. Civic was inspired– why not send some of the puppies here?! In the spring of 2008, the two doctors started what has proved to be a beautiful friendship between NAH and Valley Humane! Our first litter of puppies found their forever homes within weeks of arriving, and many have followed! To learn more about these pups, click any one of them below!
